Lesleh Precision Inc. is seeking a skilled CNC Set Up Machinist specializing in Horizontal Machining Centers (HMC) with Fanuc and Haas controls. You will set up and run complex jobs, manage tombstones, pallet changers, and multi-pallet systems, and ensure tight tolerances on precision parts.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of experience, strong programming and editing skills in Fanuc G-code/M-code, and proven ability to troubleshoot tooling and fixture issues in a fast-paced shop.

Qualifications

• Expert proficiency with Fanuc series controls (e.g., 31i, 0i-F).
• Competency in manually writing and editing Fanuc G-code/M-code.
• Expert tooling knowledge: speeds/feeds and material machinability.
• Strong math skills including trigonometry and spatial reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex setups from scratch on CNC Horizontal Machining Centers with Fanuc-based controllers.
• Align and secure tombstones, multi-sided fixtures, vices, and custom work-holding devices.
• Load, verify, and execute CNC programs; establish Fanuc work coordinate systems.
• Select, assemble, and preset cutting tools; set accurate offsets.
• Run first-article inspections and prove out new or modified programs safely.
• Edit G-code and M-code directly at the Fanuc controller to resolve programming errors.
• Utilize Fanuc macro variables or system offsets for dimensional control.
• Manage multi-pallet systems and automatic pallet changers to maximize uptime.
• Inspect parts with precision gauges and interpret GD&T callouts.
• Perform daily PMs on HMC machinery and maintain clean workspaces.

CNC Set Up Machinist – Horizontal (Fanuc Controls)

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Set Up Machinist specializing in Horizontal Machining Centers (HMC) with Fanuc and Haas Controls to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end setup and operation of complex horizontal mills. You will independently handle part setups on multi-pallet systems, modify Fanuc G-code programs at the controller, and ensure strict adherence to quality tolerances. The ideal candidate has deep expertise with tombstones, indexing, pallet changers, and structural troubleshooting using Fanuc control systems.

Key Responsibilities

Fanuc Setups & Operation

• Perform complex setups from scratch on CNC Horizontal Machining Centers with Fanuc-based controllers.
• Align and secure tombstones, multi-sided fixtures, vices, and custom work-holding devices.
• Load, verify, and execute CNC programs, establishing correct Fanuc work coordinate systems (G54 through G59, or extended work offsets like G54.1 P1).
• Select, assemble, and preset cutting tools, boring bars, and inserts, setting accurate Fanuc tool length and diameter offsets.
• Run first-article inspections and prove out new or modified programs safely.

Program Editing & Troubleshooting

• Edit G-code and M-code directly at the Fanuc controller to resolve programming errors, optimize tool paths, or adjust for tool deflection.
• Utilize Fanuc macro variables or system offsets to maintain precise dimensional control over long production runs.
• Manage multi-pallet systems and automatic pallet changers (APC) to maximize machine uptime and facilitate continuous manufacturing.

Quality Assurance & Maintenance

• Inspect precision parts using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and thread gauges.
• Interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings with strict GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance) callouts.
• Maintain tolerances as tight as +/- .001.
• Perform daily PMs (preventative maintenance) on HMC machinery, keeping the controller, fluid levels, and workspaces clean and operational.

Qualifications & Skills

Required Experience & Technical Skills

• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience setting up and operating CNC Horizontal Machining Centers.
• Controls: Expert proficiency navigating, troubleshooting, and editing on Fanuc series controls ,( Fanuc 31i, 0i-F, etc.).
• Programming: Competency in manually writing and modifying Fanuc G-code/M-code.
• Tooling: Expert knowledge of cutting tool speeds, feeds, and material machinability (aluminum, steel, brass).
• Mathematics: Strong shop math skills, including trigonometry and spatial reasoning.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Ability to lift up to 50# regularly.
• Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods during an 8-to-12 hour shift.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced machine shop environment (exposure to noise, lubricants, and metal chips).
