South Bay Solutions, Inc. seeks a Set-up Machinist for our high-precision shop in California. You will set up, operate, and maintain production machines per prints and specs, ensuring parts meet tolerance and quality standards.

Day shift: Monday–Friday 6:00 AM–2:35 PM. Candidates must have 5+ years horizontal milling setup experience (Matsuura or FANUC), be physically able to lift 50 lbs, read blueprints, and inspect parts with precision.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Basic math, writing and computer skills.
• Must be able to read prints and interpret engineering designs.
• Experience setting up and running multiple CNC machines.
• Proficient with inspection tools and self-inspection.

Responsabilités

• Operate CNC machinery using drawings, specs and instructions.
• Document processes for running or improving setups.
• Maintain a safe, efficient, and clean shop.
• Maintain and clean up shop equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve tooling, materials, programs, equipment issues.
• Suggest changes to part specs to improve machinability.
• Perform other job-related duties.

Summary

Responsible for, but not limited to setting-up/operating assigned machinery. The Set-up machinist ensures that the machine runs smoothly and is appropriately maintained. The essential role of a Set-up machinist is to set up production machines following prints and specifications and to inspect and measure finished products to ensure they meet requirements.

Schedule

Day Shift | Monday – Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:35 PM

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Use drawings (blueprint), specs and instructions to operate CNC Machinery.
• Document processes pertaining to running and/or improvements made to set up or operate assigned machines.
• Sustain a safe, efficient, and clean work environment.
• Responsible for the general maintenance and clean-up of the shop.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems involving tooling, materials, programs, equipment, and part specifications.
• Identify and recommend changes to part specifications to improve machine ability.
• Perform other job-related duties.

Qualifications and Skills

• Must be able up to lift 50 lbs.
• Basic math, writing and computer skills.
• Must be able to set up/run multiple machines.
• Must be able to read prints e.g., able to interpret and translate engineering designs and documentation.
• Be able to inspect their own parts and be proficient with inspection tools.

Education / Experience

• Minimum 5 years of Horizontal mill setup experience (Preferably Matsuura, or FANUC Controls), machining certification OR completion of a full apprenticeship program.
