Job summary

SpaceX is looking for a skilled CNC Programmer (Starship Components) to join the team in Hawthorne. You will program, set up, and optimize multi-axis CNC operations on Okuma equipment, collaborating with engineering to improve part designs and manufacturing methods.

You will develop tooling and process sheets, contribute to a CAM database, and mentor junior programmers while staying current with manufacturing technologies and best practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience.
• 2+ years of CNC programming experience.
• Experience with Okuma OSP controls and multi–axis machining.
• Ability to read blueprints and GD&T with accuracy.
• Experience drafting setup instructions and process documents.
• Willingness to work shifts including early mornings or overtime.

Responsibilities

• Use CAM to program and generate G-Code for Okuma mills and lathes, optimizing complex, multi-axis programs.
• Create and refine tooling and setup sheets for new parts, applying lessons learned.
• Set-up, prove out, and operate programs on Okuma equipment, troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
• Develop and utilize a CAM database for efficient part programming and data analysis.
• Review quality concerns, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with engineering to review drawings, perform DFM, and suggest changes.
• Mentor junior programmers and share best practices to raise team capability.
• Stay current on manufacturing tech and integrate new processes into workflows.
• Identify production inhibitors early and propose solutions to management.
• Maintain 5S and shop standards; contribute to broader team guidelines.
