Job summary

Caterpillar’s East Peoria facility is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - CNC Programmer to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency in complex manufacturing operations. The role combines hands-on shop floor support with lean initiatives and collaborative automation across machining operations.

You will develop CNC programs, design tooling and fixtures, and lead improvement projects with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, production-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• Must have or be working toward a related engineering degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods, processes, and tooling.
• Experience applying lean principles and problem-solving in production environments.
• Ability to manage projects, timelines, and cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and sustain manufacturing and tooling processes for machining heavy equipment components.
• Create, validate, and maintain CNC programs for multi-axis machines.
• Design tooling, fixtures, and setups to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
• Generate and maintain operation specs, work instructions, and process sheets.
• Lead root cause analyses and continuous improvement initiatives addressing safety, quality, and throughput.
• Evaluate and implement manufacturing equipment and automation enhancements.
• Manage technical projects from planning to execution, including budgets.
