Job summary

Norwood Medical is seeking a skilled CNC programmer to develop and optimize 5-axis machining programs in Dayton, OH. You will interpret engineering drawings, run simulations, and collaborate across teams to improve tooling and processes for medical devices.

Responsibilities include programming, tool coordination, quality testing, and maintaining records while upholding safety standards in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in 5-Axis CNC programming in a manufacturing/machining environment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints & schematics to develop machinery programming.
  • Basic computer skills and programming knowledge.
  • Understanding of machining properties of various raw materials.
  • Ability to stand, sit, move about the facility, and lift up to 35lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop programs utilizing CAM software for machines to produce customer parts and internal tooling.
  • Run programming simulations and modify as needed.
  • Interpret drawings and product models to make modifications for in-process tooling, fixtures, and gauges using CAD/CAM applications.
  • Conduct quality tests to ensure products meet quality standards and make adjustments as needed.
  • Create and maintain accurate records of programming, set-up sheets, and tooling information.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams through providing technical support and project updates.
  • Recommend design changes to aid manufacturability.
  • Provide training support on programming and machinery operation.
  • Submit purchase requisitions for outsourced mechanical components and tooling.
  • Ensure compliance with CAD/CAM standards to provide quality design.
  • Adhere to safety practices and support safety-related activities.

Skills:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in 5-Axis CNC programming in a manufacturing and machining environment, 10+ years experience overall preferred
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints & schematics to develop machinery programming
  • Basic computer skills and programming knowledge
  • Understanding of machining properties of various raw materials
  • Ability to stand, sit, move about the facility, and/or lift up to 35lbs during scheduled work hours

Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and convey technical information clearly.
