Job summary

The Atlas Group in Wichita, KS is seeking a highly skilled NC/CAD-CAM programmer responsible for developing reliable CNC processes to meet exacting aerospace customer requirements.

You will design and validate NC programs for extrusion, forging, casting and tooling, plus 3- to 5-axis milling, optimize feeds and speeds, and document setups for shop floor execution. Lean improvements and tool technology will be part of daily optimization.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years of full-time CAD/CAM programming experience.
• Very strong aerospace precision metalworking background.
• Ability to support fast-paced programming schedules with high NC accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Design NC programs for extrusion, hogout forging/casting tooling and assemblies.
• Create NC programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling of customer products.
• Verify NC programs prior to production using verification software.
• Approve and place NC programs and setup information on the machine server.
• Troubleshoot CNC programming and production issues.
• Maintain master files of programming and optimize feeds/rpms.
• Incorporate new cutting tool technology and lean improvements.

Overview

Responsible for working closely with manufacturing planner and CNC shop personnel to produce reliable CNC processes to meet customer requirements by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Designs and creates NC programs for extrusion products,large block HOGOUT products,forging and/or casting products,forging and/or casting related tooling, andassembly related tooling.
• Designs and creates NC programs for 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis milling customer products.
• Displays expertise in 4-axis horizontal mill machining programming and 5-axis mill machining programming with great efficiency.
• Plans details of CNC related operation.
• Provides accurate setup documentation.
• Validates NC programs prior to production use by using verification software.
• Approves and places NC programs, setup information on machine server for shop use.
• Performs troubleshooting on CNC programming related problems.
• Participates in troubleshooting on production related problems.
• Upkeeps and/or maintains master files of programming.
• Optimizes feed rate and spindle RPM to for cost affectivity.
• Integrates improved and/or new cutting tool technology.
• Participates in the improvement process by utilizing lean manufacturing method.
• Proposes feasible solutions for future overall process improvements.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in the use of CAD/CAM software.

Education/Experience:

Must have a minimum of eight years of full-time CAD/CAM programming experience, a very strong aerospace precision metal working background, and be capable of supporting a very fast-pace programming schedule with great NC programming accuracy and efficiency.

Equipment:

Eye and hearing protection may be necessary while working on the shop floor.

• Must be able to read customer provided drawing
• Knowledgeable in G-code
• Operating portable measuring equipment
• Thorough understanding of machining processes
