Job summary

Mid Continent Engineering is seeking a CNC Machine Programmer for a 1st shift (6:00 am–4:30 pm, Mon–Thu) based in Minnesota. The role focuses on programming and operating CNC horizontal mills, utilizing Mastercam and SolidWorks, with emphasis on precision GD&T and continuous improvement.

Ideal candidates will have a technical college degree and 5 years of CNC machining experience, plus 3–5 years of programming.

Qualifications

  • Five years CNC horizontal mill machining experience.
  • 3-5 years programming experience.
  • Mastercam and SolidWorks experience required.
  • Advanced GD&T knowledge applicable to daily work.
  • Experience with Epicor is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze drawings, sketches, and design data to determine cutting parameters and tool selection.
  • Write work instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation.
  • Determine reference points and cutting path directions.
  • Compute dimensions and sequence of operations for machining parts.
  • Prepare geometric layout using CAD to show reference points and cutting paths.
  • Write machine instructions to encode NC data for the cutting path.
  • Revise programs to eliminate errors and improve speed while maintaining accuracy.
  • Operate machine on trial runs to validate programmed instructions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Mid Continent Engineering is seeking a CNC Machine Programmer to join our team!

This is a 1st Shift- 6 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday opportunity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

include the following:

  • Analyze drawings, sketches, and design data of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates.
  • Write work instruction sheets, cutter lists to guide the setup, and operation of machine.
  • Determine reference points and direction of machine cutting paths
  • Compute angular and linear dimensions, radius, and curvatures/ outlines sequence of operations required to machine part.
  • Prepare geometric layout using computer-assisted drafting software to show location of reference points and direction of cutting paths.
  • Write program of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode numerical control tape or direct numerical control database to regulate movement of machine along cutting path.
  • Revise program to eliminate instruction errors or omissions and continuous improvement of the program to speed up the machine while maintaining accuracy/ precision.
  • Operation of machine on trial run to prove programmed instructions.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
Education & Experience:
  • Machine Degree from a technical college preferred
  • Prefer a candidate that has five years of CNC Horizontal Mill machining experience with 3-5 years programming experience.
  • Mastercam and Solidworks experience is a must for this position
  • Advanced GD&T knowledge with the ability to apply to daily work routine
  • Experience with Epicor is a plus

Individuals working in an office setting will not endure some of the physical & work environments conditions of the production floor unless office is adjacent to the production floor or per the individuals job duties and/ or responsibilities. All office personnel must abide by the PPE guidelines (safety glasses, safety-toed boots that are provided per the company policy guidelines) when entering the production floor or if a requirement of a department that individual is entering or working in.
