Job summary

Columbia Manufacturing LLC is seeking an experienced CMM Programmer to develop, validate, and execute Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs used to inspect precision aerospace components. This role requires extensive GD&T knowledge, blueprint interpretation, and CMM programming software in an AS9100 environment.

You will program CMMs with PC-DMIS or M-COSMOS, perform FAI and in-process inspections, and generate detailed inspection reports.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in CMM programming in an aerospace or precision machining environment.
  • Strong proficiency with CMM programming software such as PC-DMIS, M-COSMOS, or equivalent.
  • Thorough understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and complex blueprint interpretation.
  • Experience performing AS9102 First Article Inspections.
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD models and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, program, test, and validate CMM inspection programs for aerospace components.
  • Program and operate CMMs using PC-DMIS, M-COSMOS, or applicable software.

JOB TITLE: CMM Programmer

JOB SUMMARY: Columbia Manufacturing LLC is seeking an experienced CMM Programmer to develop, validate, and execute Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs used to inspect precision aerospace components. This position is responsible for creating efficient inspection programs, verifying product conformance to engineering drawings and customer specifications, and supporting manufacturing through advanced metrology techniques. The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and CMM programming software in an AS9100 manufacturing environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, program, test, and validate CMM inspection programs for new and existing aerospace components.
  • Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) using company-approved software (PC-DMIS, M-COSMOS, or applicable software).
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, customer specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
  • Perform first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
  • Create and optimize inspection routines to improve accuracy, repeatability, and inspection efficiency.
  • Verify dimensional conformance using CMMs and conventional inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, indicators, optical comparators, and surface plates.
  • Generate detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate quality documentation.
  • Troubleshoot CMM programs, fixturing, probe configurations, and measurement issues.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and customers to resolve dimensional and inspection concerns.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective action investigations involving dimensional nonconformances.
  • Maintain CMM equipment and verify calibration compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection methods and quality processes.
  • Train and mentor inspectors on CMM operation and inspection techniques as needed.
  • Follow all company safety policies, quality procedures, and AS9100 requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, technical degree or certification in Metrology, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in CMM programming in an aerospace or precision machining environment.
  • Strong proficiency with CMM programming software such as PC-DMIS, M-COSMOS, or equivalent.
  • Thorough understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and complex blueprint interpretation.
