Job summary

CoorsTek in Hillsboro, Oregon is seeking a CNC Process Engineer II or III to develop, optimize, and standardize multi-axis CNC machining processes for advanced ceramics manufacturing. You will lead tooling strategies, process documentation, and NPI support across facilities, while mentoring CNC programmers and providing technical training.

The role requires strong programming (Mastercam), GD&T proficiency, and experience with NC simulation tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred
Minimum 3 years of engineering experience
Experience programming CNC machines to tight tolerances
Six Sigma certification a plus
Proficient with MasterCAM and post processor development
Proficient with a variety of CNC equipment controls and materials
Full understanding of G and M code functions

Responsibilities

Develop, optimize, and maintain multi-axis CNC programs for mills, lathes, and grinding equipment
Establish standardized programming methodologies, tooling strategies, and process documentation
Support new product introduction (NPI) through process design, prove-out, and validation
Perform complex set-ups and operate a variety of CNC equipment using an advanced level of tooling knowledge
Troubleshoot machining and equipment issues and implement corrective actions
Perform preventative maintenance functions (e.g. Ball bar change) and coordinate with vendors for repairs
Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements to ensure conformance
Perform in-process inspections and collaborate with quality engineers to resolve nonconformances
Interpret CMM reports and validate inspection techniques
Utilize SPC methods to monitor process stability and identify sources of variation
Lead or participate in Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives
Design and execute experiments to improve machining processes, including data collection and statistical analysis
Drive improvements in cycle time, yield, and process capability
Serve as a technical resource and mentor for CNC programmers and machinists
Provide training in CNC programming (e.g., Mastercam) and machining best practices
Support development of COE capabilities, including standardization across sites
