Job summary

Cogent Analytics in Baton Rouge is seeking an experienced Fabricator to lead the operation of CNC press brake and laser cutting equipment, producing high‑precision sheet metal components for custom‑built machinery. You will interpret blueprints, verify tolerances with calipers and other measurement tools, and perform safe material handling and routine maintenance in a four‑day work week.

• Experience: 5–10 years of hands‑on experience setting up and operating CNC press brakes and/or laser cutting machines in a manufacturing environment.
• Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of bend allowances, bend deductions, and precision measuring tools.
• Physical requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for 10‑hour shifts, and perform repetitive physical tasks safely.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC laser cutters and press brakes to cut and form steel, aluminum, and stainless sheet metal to exact specifications.
• Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, fabrication drawings, and flat patterns to determine machine setup, bend sequences, and part requirements.
• Inspect parts throughout production using calipers, protractors, tape measures, and other precision tools to maintain tight tolerances.
• Safely load and unload heavy sheet metal, perform basic daily machine maintenance, and maintain a clean, safe work area.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  CNC Machine Operation — Set up and operate CNC laser cutters and press brakes to cut and form steel, aluminum, and stainless sheet metal to exact specifications.
