Core Duties
- Configure and run CNC press brake systems to shape and bend metal plates and sheets.
- Analyze engineering schematics, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications to ensure production accuracy.
- Choose, mount, and calibrate necessary dies, punches, and back gauges.
- Input bending sequences, gauge positions, and angles directly into the machine interface.
- Upload and confirm the validity of pre-existing production programs.
- Determine necessary bend allowances and compensate for material springback to ensure parts meet design intent.
- Verify component dimensions using height gauges, protractors, micrometers, and calipers.
- Modify machine parameters to uphold quality standards and dimensional tolerances.
- Optimize production throughput while helping to reduce material waste and rework.
- Utilize overhead cranes and forklifts to safely transport materials across the floor.
- Execute standard maintenance tasks such as machine lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs.
- Record production totals and quality inspection data with high precision.
- Keep the workstation tidy to support a safer and more efficient shop floor.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and proper PPE usage, to foster a secure environment for the entire team.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience operating CNC press brakes within a fabrication or manufacturing setting.
- Proven ability to independently manage the full setup and operation of press brake machinery.
- Advanced proficiency in interpreting complex technical drawings and blueprints.
- Demonstrated knowledge of GD&T standards.
- Solid grasp of shop mathematics, specifically involving angles, decimals, and fractions.
- Proficiency in utilizing various precision measurement tools.
- Comprehensive understanding of material properties and bending principles.
- Background in processing various metals, including aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel.
- Capability to diagnose setup issues and perform adjustments to ensure parts remain within tolerance.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Desired Background
- Prior experience with Trumpf press brake systems.
- Proficiency in offline CNC programming software.
- Experience operating robotic or tandem press brake setups.
- Exposure to additional fabrication processes like laser cutting or welding.
Physical Demands
- Capacity to lift and transport weights up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to manage larger components safely using mechanical assistance or team lifting.
- Comfort with continuous standing, bending, and repetitive movements during the shift.
- Ability to work effectively in a shop environment with typical noise levels, sharp metal edges, and moving machinery.
- Requirement to utilize all necessary safety gear, such as gloves, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, and safety glasses.
This role requires a high level of technical skill. We are looking for individuals with direct CNC press brake experience who are capable of managing full setups and operations, rather than those focused solely on loading and unloading tasks.
