Press Brake Operator Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Machine Setup & Operation - Set up and operate CNC and hydraulic press brake machines to bend and form sheet metal components - Select, install, and adjust appropriate punches, dies, and tooling for specific production runs - Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, engineering drawings, and production schedules - Program or modify machine settings, including bend angles, material thicknesses, and back-gauge positions - Load, position, and align materials to ensure accurate and consistent forming operations - Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality and efficiency
- Quality Control - Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections to verify compliance with specifications - Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, protractors, angle gauges, and tape measures - Identify defects, dimensional issues, and nonconforming materials and take corrective action when appropriate
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting - Perform daily machine inspections and routine preventive maintenance - Troubleshoot equipment, tooling, and setup issues to minimize downtime - Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs with maintenance personnel - Maintain tooling and work areas in clean and organized condition
- Safety & Productivity - Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout practices - Work safely around moving machinery, sheet metal, and fabrication equipment - Meet production objectives while maintaining quality standards - Collaborate with team members and supervisors to improve manufacturing processes and workflow efficiency
Press Brake Operator Requirements:
- Previous experience operating press brakes, brake presses required
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions required
- Working knowledge of metal fabrication processes and sheet metal forming
- Strong mathematical and measurement skills
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Preferred experience with CNC press brake programming and setup
- Preferred knowledge of bend deductions, tooling selection, and fabrication calculations
- Preferred prior experience in a custom metal fabrication or manufacturing environment
- Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
- Stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the shift
- Handle sheet metal and fabricated parts safely
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment
- Capable of performing repetitive tasks while maintaining quality standards
