Job summary

Chromalox, Inc. is seeking a Fab Prep Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. You will program, set up, and operate CNC plasma cutting equipment to produce quality parts per engineering drawings and production requirements.

Responsibilities include material verification, part inspection, deburring, inventory maintenance, and basic maintenance. Band saw and radial arm drill support may be required. You will work with a team to meet safety, quality, and efficiency goals while upholding

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of manufacturing or fabrication experience preferred.
• Experience operating CNC plasma cutting equipment preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, work orders, and technical documents.
• Strong math skills and ability to use measuring tools accurately.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and shop instructions to determine cutting requirements.
• Program, set up, and operate CNC plasma cutting equipment to produce parts meeting specs.
• Verify material type, thickness, and dimensions prior to processing.
• Inspect completed parts using tape measures, calipers, squares, and inspection tools.
• Remove cut parts and prepare material for downstream operations.
• Clean, grind, deburr, and finish plasma-cut components to remove slag and sharp edges.
• Maintain inventory of plate, sheet, and raw materials used in plasma cutting.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate material requirements to supervision.
• Perform preventive maintenance and housekeeping of plasma table and equipment.
• Assist with band saws and radial arm drills as needed to support production.
• Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Follow safety procedures and wear PPE; maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Work independently and as part of a team to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Crosstrain and assist with other fabrication processes as needed.
• Support training of team members on equipment operation and procedures.
