Job summary

The Gill Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to research, design, and oversee mechanical and electromechanical products and systems. You will direct fabrication, installation, and maintenance activities to ensure conformance to specifications, while leading root cause analyses and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • BSME from an accredited university or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in design and fabrication of mechanical/electromechanical equipment.
  • Experience with PID loop controllers, PLCs, and plant control/monitoring equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Research and design mechanical/electromechanical products and systems.
  • Coordinate fabrication and installation to meet specifications.
  • Lead testing, data analysis, and root cause investigations to improve performance.
  • Develop manufacturing processes and Lean initiatives to reduce costs and increase throughput.
  • Provide technical oversight and training to project teams.

Who we are:The Gill Corporation is one of the world's largest manufacturers of honeycomb, high performance floor panels, cargo compartment liners and original equipment for passenger and freighter aircraft. The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products.The Gill Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II who will research, plan, and design mechanical and electromechanical products, systems and projects. They will direct and coordinate activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of these products, systems and projects.Reporting to the Engineering Group Leader, they will perform but not be limited to the following responsibilities.Responsibilities:Research and analyze data, design proposals and specifications to determine feasibility of design or application.Design products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, machines, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.Direct and coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and specifications.Coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.Evaluate existing installations and recommend design modifications to improve equipment performance and eliminate machine or system malfunctionsDevelop and/or improve processes for the manufacture of new or existing products.Conduct root cause analysis and implement countermeasures to prevent equipment failure recurrence.Develop and implement concepts, including Lean Manufacturing, etc., to reduce manufacturing cost and increase process throughput.Create/manage manufacturing documentation, and provide technical oversight to bring high priority projects to a successful conclusion including trainingLead equipment trials supported by data analysis and recommend appropriate next steps.Work in a proactive manner to manage the technical direction of assigned manufacturing areas, in concert with the overall technical direction of the site.Other essential duties may be assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesOversee contractors and personnel related to fabrication, installation and maintenance activities for assigned projectsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
