Job summary

ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions in Houston, TX seeks a machine operator to run computer-controlled equipment on metal work pieces, performing multiple functions and ensuring parts meet tight specifications.

You will change tools, measure with calipers and gauges, and ensure proper tool setup, while listening for machine issues and adjusting operations as needed. This is a full-time, on-site role with benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent industrial experience.
• Few months to one year of working with experienced employees.

Responsibilities

• Operate computer-controlled machines on metal work pieces.
• Change punching tools and dies; replace cutting tools as needed.
• Measure dimensions and inspect finished parts for conformance with specifications.
• Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, and fixtures on machines.
• Listen for abnormal machine sounds and adjust operations accordingly.
• Modify cutting programs to address issues and save changes.
• Insert control instructions to start machine operation.
• Perform other tasks as directed by supervision.

Job Summary

Operate computer-controlled machines to perform one or more machine functions on metal work pieces.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Change punching tools and dies asrequired.5%

Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.10%

Remove and replace dull cutting tools.5%

Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.5%

Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems.10%

Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction.10%

Stop machines to remove finished work pieces or to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences.20%

Lift work pieces to machines manually or with hoists or cranes.10%

Modify cutting programs to account for problemsencounteredduring operation and save modified programs.5%

Insert control instructions into machine control units to start operation.15%

Education and Experience Profile

• High school diploma or GED certificate and/or industrial experience.
• Employees in these occupations need anywhere from a few months to one year of working with experienced employees.

Quality Control Analysis - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
