Job summary

Ascential Technologies is seeking a CNC Operator I for the 2nd shift (Mon-Thurs, 3:20pm - 1:50am) in Michigan. The role requires at least three years of experience operating mills and/or lathes by following work orders and engineering plans, plus ability to read blueprints and perform GD&T measurements.

You will calculate requirements, verify settings, document production and quality logs, and perform routine maintenance while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

• Three years’ experience as a CNC Operator I.
• Ability to read blueprints and engineering plans (blueprints).
• Basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; GD&T knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Operates mills and/or lathes by following work orders and engineering plans; sets tool registers and offsets.
• Calculates requirements and measures to ensure first-run parts meet specs.
• Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and samples.
• Maintains specifications by inspecting drilling, grooving, turning, facing, knurling and thread-chasing operations; records measurements and adjusts as needed.
• Performs preventive maintenance and coordinates with maintenance when needed to keep equipment running.
• Maintains shift continuity by documenting actions, irregularities, and needs across handoffs.
• Completes production and quality logs as assigned and updates knowledge through training opportunities.
• Adheres to quality standards to ensure parts meet customer and company specs; follows safety procedures.
• Accepts additional responsibilities as needed to support production goals.

• Three years’ experience as a CNC Operator I


• Operates mills and or lathes by following work orders, engineering plans (blueprints), including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, and conditional switches


• Calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; (GD&T).


• Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; proving out part programs.


• Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting offsets; replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.


• Maintains equipment by completing assigned preventive maintenance; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling maintenance for repairs and/or assistance.


• Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.


• Complete production and quality logs as assigned


• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities


• Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests;


• Follow quality standards to ensure parts are to the customer and company standards


• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
