Job summary

MW Components, Inc. is seeking a CNC machine operator to read blueprints, set up mills and lathes, and produce parts to exact tolerances. You will work with precision measuring tools and collaborate with other departments to ensure quality and on-time delivery.

Candidates should have at least one year of CNC experience, be detail-oriented, and able to communicate clearly. Safety, logs, and routine maintenance are part of the role.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year experience operating CNC machines.
  • Experience with mills, lathes, CNC machines is a plus.
  • Ability to read part specifications and blueprints.
  • Proficient in using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.

Responsibilities

  • Set up machines to meet tolerances and blueprints.
  • Inspect parts with calipers, micrometers, and other tools.
  • Document actions and maintain production logs.
  • Maintain safety and perform basic preventive maintenance.
  • Adjust controls and troubleshoot processes.

Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Adjust the machine to attain specified tolerances.
  • Understand blueprints and be able to use a variety of precision measuring devices.
  • May work/train in other departments where needed.
  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Other duties assigned if necessary
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
  • Ability to read and interpret part specifications or blueprints.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Good verbal and communication skills.
  • Accurately read and interpret callipers, microammeters, and other precision measuring tools
  • Ability to inspect and measure parts using precision instruments (callipers, micrometeors, etc)
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Required

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in CNC machine operation.
  • Any experience with Mills, lathes, CNC machines, etc. a plus.

Use of vision correction is acceptable, if necessary; however, any vision correction apparatus must meet all safety guidelines for the area of activity.
