Job summary

Amsted Rail is seeking a 2nd Shift CNC Operator to join our manufacturing team. You will operate NC/CNC machines, change tooling, inspect parts, and maintain safe, productive operations.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or GED, basic math and reading skills, and a strong attention to detail. You will work both independently and with a team to meet quality and production targets.

Job description

We are currently seeking a 2nd Shift CNC Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position plays a key role in producing precision-machined components while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate one or two NC/CNC machines.
• Change machine tooling as required.
• Inspect parts to specified tolerances and engineering drawing requirements using approved inspection methods.
• Ensure finished parts meet quality standards and visual requirements.
• Perform routine machine and equipment maintenance.
• Enter labor and production reporting accurately each day.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Perform minor assembly functions as needed.
• Meet established production and efficiency standards.
• Report equipment malfunctions, tooling issues, and material concerns promptly.
• Properly identify and document defects or non-conforming parts.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and work instructions.

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic math, reading, and comprehension skills.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions and quality requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for approximately 10 hours per shift.
• Ability to lift up to 85 pounds, approximately 5-10 times per hour.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machine noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures while wearing all required PPE.
