Job summary

PrecisionX Group is seeking a CNC Operator to run lathes and mills, producing precision parts to exact specifications. You will set up machines, adjust tool offsets, and monitor cycles to sustain quality on the shop floor.

Colleagues in engineering and QA will rely on you to inspect finished parts with precision instruments, read blueprints, and apply GD&T as needed. A high school diploma is required; additional certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating CNC lathes and mills is essential.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints; GD&T knowledge is valued.

Position Summary:

The CNC Operator plays a critical role in manufacturing by operating Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines. This position is pivotal in ensuring that precision parts and components are produced to meet strict quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a methodical work ethic, advanced technical skills, and a thorough understanding of various machining processes.

Key Responsibilities:

CNC Machine Operation:

  • Operate a variety of CNC machines, including but not limited to lathes and mills.
  • Configure machine settings according to specific production requirements by adjusting tool offsets.
  • Monitor machine operations continually to ensure optimal functioning throughout the entire production cycle, adjusting as necessary to promote productivity and quality.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to address production issues.
  • Analyze and interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications, clearly understanding the necessary machining processes.
  • In coordination with quality personnel, conduct detailed inspections of finished parts using precision measuring equipment.

Non-essential Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as directed, including but not limited to maintenance tasks and cleaning workstation.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience operating CNC Lathes, Mills, or other CNC Machining Equipment.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; relevant certifications, vocational training, or an associate degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments and tools relevant to quality assurance processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints and a willingness to learn geometric dimensions and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Willingness to learn technical knowledge of CNC machinery, tooling, and machining practices.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude, with an ability to effectively diagnose issues in machinery and tools.
  • A keen attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities to ensure high-quality output.

Work Environment:

This position involves working in a manufacturing environment that is adjacent to the shop work environment. The employee must be aware of potential hazards, including, but not limited to, working in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, operating vehicles, exposure to electrical current, high temperatures, and chemicals. It's important to maintain a high level of alertness and caution while performing tasks in this work environment.
