Job summary

Alanson Manufacturing Company in Chicago, IL is seeking a skilled CNC Operator to join our team on the shop floor. You will set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines to produce precision parts per specifications, reading blueprints and CAD/CAM files.

The role emphasizes tight tolerances, in-process quality checks with calipers and micrometers, and maintaining shop floor records. 1+ year experience and knowledge of G-code are preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of CNC machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
• Experience with precision measuring instruments and quality control processes.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines to produce precision parts per specifications
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD/CAM files
• Perform in-process quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges
• Load and unload raw materials and finished parts from CNC equipment
• Adjust machine offsets, feeds, and speeds to maintain tight tolerances
• Perform routine machine maintenance and identify mechanical issues
• Document production output and maintain accurate shop floor records

Requirements:

• 1+ years of CNC machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment
• Proficiency with CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis machining centers
• Ability to read blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings
• Experience with precision measuring instruments and quality control processes
• Familiarity with G-code and M-code programming is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a shop floor environment
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
