Job summary

Aero Gear is seeking a Shaping Machinist to independently set up and operate CNC and manual shapers in a precision aerospace environment. You will read process travelers and inspection reports to ensure high-quality finished parts, with emphasis on setup accuracy and safety.

The role requires at least 1 year of aerospace CNC machining, a high school diploma, and a mindset for continuous improvement. Expect a demanding but rewarding on-site work environment with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • 1 year minimum aerospace CNC machining experience required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Degree/certificate from a vocational school or college program is a plus, but extensive experience may substitute for education.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret process travelers, setup journals, operation sheets and CMM inspection reports to produce complex finished parts.
  • Set up tooling and adjust programs offsets as needed.
  • Inspect work using gauges, indicators, and micrometers.
  • Perform daily TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) tasks.
  • Maintain clean, organized work area and follow safety rules; wear PPE as required.
  • Participate in cross-training, cost-saving initiatives and team activities to improve processes.
  • Maintain respectful, professional interactions with coworkers and supervisors.

Position Summary

The Shaping Machinist will independently and safely set up and operate CNC and manual shapers.

Essential Functions
  • Read and understand process travelers, setup journals, operation sheets and CMM inspection reports to produce complex finished product.
  • Setup, tooling adjustments and program offsets as necessary.
  • Ability to accurately inspect work utilizing various instruments including gages, indicators and micrometers.
  • Perform daily TPM responsibilities.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices on machines and in work area. Comply with all company and safety rules and regulations. Wear necessary personal protective equipment as required.
  • Actively participate in cross-training, cost savings and team activities to improve processes.
  • Maintain appropriate tact and diplomacy in dealings with co-workers, team members and supervisors.

Compensation

$40000 - $100000 / year

Compensation is paid hourly and may be adjusted based on level of experience, overtime and shift.
