Job summary

Aero Gear is seeking an experienced machinist to independently set up and operate precision CNC ID-OD grind equipment to produce aerospace components. You will read process travelers, make tooling adjustments, and ensure tight tolerances using a range of inspection tools.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in aerospace CNC machining, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to work safely and collaboratively within a team environment in Windsor, CT.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years aerospace CNC machining experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree/certificate is a plus, but extensive experience may substitute.
  • Ability to read process travelers, setup journals, tooling sheets and operation sheets.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand process travelers, setup journals, tooling sheets and operation sheets to produce complex finished product.
  • Make tooling adjustments and program offsets as necessary.
  • Inspect work with close tolerances using air gage, OD indicators, profilometers, micrometers, height stands and verniers.
  • Perform daily TPM responsibilities and maintain housekeeping.
  • Engage in cross-training and cost-saving initiatives; collaborate with teammates and supervisors.

Position Summary

This machinist will independently and safely set up and operate precision CNC ID-OD grind equipment.

Essential Functions
  • Read and understand process travelers, setup journals, tooling sheets and operation sheets to produce complex finished product.
  • Make tooling adjustments and program offsets as necessary.
  • Ability to accurately inspect work very close tolerances utilizing various instruments, including air gage, OD indicating gaging, indicators, profilometers, micrometers, height stands and verniers.
  • Perform daily TPM responsibilities.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices on machines and in work area. Comply with all company and safety rules and regulations. Wear necessary personal protective equipment as required.
  • Actively participate in cross-training, cost savings and team activities to improve processes.
  • Maintain appropriate tact and diplomacy in dealings with co-workers, team members and supervisors.

Experience and Education
  • Minimum of 3 years of aerospace CNC machining experience is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Degree/certificate from vocation school or college program is a plus, but extensive experience may substitute for education.
Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Compensation

$40000 - $100000 / year

Compensation is paid hourly and may be adjusted based on level of experience, overtime and shift.
