Job summary

Schwab Industries is seeking a CNC Milling Manager to lead milling operations in Shelby Township, MI, supporting aerospace and automotive tooling, stamping, and prototyping. This hands-on leadership role oversees operators and programmers, department safety and quality, and machining performance on large, complex tooling.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of CNC milling experience, strong supervisory skills, and expertise in WorkNC, Fanuc, Fidia, and Heidenhain controls.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of CNC milling experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience in machining/manufacturing.
• Advanced blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation.
• High proficiency in 3-axis CNC milling operations and setup.
• Experience machining large weldments and fixturing.
• Proficiency with precision measuring equipment and CAM software (WorkNC preferred).
• Experience with CNC controls including Fanuc, Fidia, and Heidenhain.
• Knowledge of lock-out/tag-out procedures and crane/Hi-Lo operation.

• Lead daily workflow and provide direction to operators and programmers.
• Communicate job priorities, engineering changes, and customer requirements to the team.
• Monitor on-time job completion, machining hours against estimates, and rework, taking corrective action when needed.
• Coach employees, provide performance feedback, and support hiring/onboarding.
• Support CNC machine setup, operation, troubleshooting, and CAM programming guidance.

What you'll be doing

• Ensure in-process and final inspection requirements are followed and documented, and support internal and customer audits
• Maintain responsibility for personnel safety, including PPE, lock-out/tag-out, crane, and Hi-Lo safety requirements

Required

• Minimum of five years CNC milling experience in a manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience in a machining or manufacturing environment
• Advanced blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
• High proficiency in CNC milling operations, setup, and operation (3-axis)
• Experience machining and cutting large weldments, including fixturing and distortion control
• Proficiency with precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, indicators, gage pins)
• Proficiency with CAM software (WorkNC preferred)
• Experience with CNC controls including Fanuc, Fidia, and Heidenhain
• Knowledge of lock-out/tag-out procedures and ability to operate crane and Hi-Lo equipment

• 5-axis milling experience
• Aerospace tooling, large-format machining, or precision manufacturing experience
