Job summary

Laborup is seeking a Lead CNC Mill Machinist for a precision shop serving aerospace, defense, medical, and semiconductor industries. The role is hands-on, leading complex setups from initial setup through production while mentoring peers on the floor.

The candidate will work on 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC mills with Fanuc controls, perform first articles, read complex blueprints, and ensure tight tolerances on high-precision parts. This is a full-time, first-shift position with potential overtime.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience setting up 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC mills.
  • Ability to read complex blueprints and apply GD&T.
  • Capable of leading and mentoring other machinists.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, medical, or semiconductor shops preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead technical resource for CNC milling.
  • Independently perform complete setups on 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC mills.
  • Take complex jobs from setup and first article through production.
  • Read blueprints and GD&T; select tooling and establish offsets.
  • Edit G-code at the machine and troubleshoot dimensional issues.
  • Hold tight tolerances on precision components.
  • Inspect parts with micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges.
  • Mentor and train other machinists as needed.

Job description

We’re hiring aLead CNC Mill Machinistfor a precision machine shop supporting theaerospace, defense, medical, and semiconductor industries.

This is a hands-on lead role for an experienced CNC mill machinist who can independently take complex jobs fromsetup through productionwhile serving as a technical resource for other machinists on the floor. You'll be responsible for difficult setups, troubleshooting, first articles, and helping less-experienced machinists solve problems and improve their capabilities.

Schedule & Compensation:
  • 1st Shift:Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
  • Full-time, direct-hire opportunity
  • Optional overtime available
  • $35-$45+/hr, depending on experience and technical capabilities
What You'll Work With:
  • 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC mills
  • Fanuc controls
  • Complex, tight-tolerance components
  • Stainless steel, aluminum, and other precision-machined materials
  • Aerospace, defense, medical, and semiconductor work
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as thelead technical resource for CNC millingon the shop floor
  • Independently perform complete setups on 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC mills
  • Take complex jobs fromsetup and first article through production
  • Support and troubleshoot setups performed by other machinists
  • Read complex blueprints, work instructions, andGD&T
  • Select tooling and establish work and tool offsets
  • MakeG-code edits and corrections at the machine
  • Prove out first articles and troubleshoot dimensional, tooling, and machining issues
  • Hold tight tolerances on complex precision components
  • Perform in-process inspection using micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, and other precision inspection equipment
  • Strong experience as aCNC Mill Setup Machinist
  • Ability to independently perform complete machine setups
  • Strong3-axis millingexperience required; 4- and 5-axis experience highly preferred
  • Fanuc control experience
  • Machine-side G-code editing and troubleshooting
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
  • Experience machining complex parts to tight tolerances
  • Strong understanding of tooling, speeds and feeds, offsets, and workholding
  • Proficiency with manual precision inspection equipment
  • Ability to diagnose and solve machining and dimensional issues
  • Previous experience as alead, trainer, mentor, or go-to machiniststrongly preferred
  • Experience inaerospace, defense, medical, semiconductor, or other high-precision machine shopshighly preferred
