Job summary

Thorlabs is seeking a CNC Machinist for the Newton, NJ location to set up and operate 3- and 4-axis vertical and horizontal CNC milling machines. You will work with Haas and Fanuc controls, interpreting G/Codes, and inspecting parts to meet tight tolerances.

The role requires strong blueprint reading, knowledge of DNC systems, and a solid understanding of mechanical design and material properties. A high school diploma and CNC training are essential; overtime and shift differential apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar position.
• CNC certification or CNC Trade School is a major plus; High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Vertical and Horizontal CNC Milling Machines (3 & 4 axis).
• Experience with Haas and Fanuc controls.
• Understand G codes/M codes and manual programming; read blueprints and tolerances.
• Inspect finished parts and ensure conformance to specifications.
• Perform periodic machine maintenance and comply with safety regulations.
