Job summary

Projects, Inc. is seeking a skilled Mill-Turn Machinist to set up and operate CNC mill-turn (multitasking) machines to produce high-quality, precision components.

This role requires independent work, troubleshooting, and consistent adherence to quality and production standards. The candidate will read blueprints, perform tool changes, set offsets, run programs, and maintain a safe, organized shop environment.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of CNC machining experience with mill-turn or multi-axis equipment.
• Solid blueprint reading skills and basic to intermediate GD&T knowledge.
• Ability to perform independent setups with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators).
• Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mill-turn / multitasking machines.
• Install and align chucks, fixtures, tooling, and live tools.
• Load and qualify turning tools, milling cutters, drills, and probes.
• Set work offsets, tool offsets, and basic probing routines.
• Run and make minor edits to CNC programs (G-code or conversational).
• Perform combined turning and milling operations including OD/ID turning, facing, grooving, threading, live-tool milling, cross-drilling.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and GD&T.
• Inspect parts using precision measuring tools to ensure tolerances and finishes.
• Make adjustments for tool wear and dimensional control.
• Troubleshoot common machining, tooling, and setup issues.
• Perform routine machine care and preventive maintenance.
• Complete job travelers and inspection documentation.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
