Job summary

Wisconsin Ordnance Works is hiring a CNC Mill Lead to be the technical anchor of our milling department across shifts. You will set up the hardest jobs, train machinists, and ensure production targets are met in a four-day, 10-hour weekly schedule with overtime available.

This working lead role combines hands-on machining with development toward supervision, requiring a strong background in CNC milling, setup, and problem solving in a defense quality environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC milling experience with independent setup
• Experience training other machinists or acting as go-to person on a shift
• Strong blueprint reading, GD&T, and inspection skills
• Able to edit programs at the control
• Reliable attendance and procedure compliance
• Must be a U.S. person under ITAR

Responsibilities

• Setup and prove out new and complex jobs: workholding, tooling, offsets, and first-article
• Troubleshoot tool wear, chatter, dimensional drift, and program problems; edit programs at the control
• Be the go-to technical resource for machinists on both shifts
• Work with engineering and quality to improve setups, cycle times, and work instructions
• Production and shift coordination: assign daily work to meet the schedule, track output and on-time delivery
• Train new hires and build a cross-training matrix; coach operators into setup machinists
• Participate in hiring decisions and set expectations for attendance, safety, and quality
• Enforce AS9100 quality system, 5S, PPE, and ITAR requirements
