Job summary

DRT Metal Packaging in Sidney, OH is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our precision machining team. You will create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for high-mix, low-volume parts on mills, lathes, and multi-axis machines, collaborating with machinists and engineers to ensure tight tolerances.

You'll leverage Mastercam or similar CAM software, read complex drawings and GD&T, and contribute to continuous improvement, cycle-time reduction, and tooling optimization on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in CNC programming, CAM programming, or CNC machining.
• Proficiency with Mastercam or similar CAM software.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, feeds, speeds, and cutting strategies.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
• Experience programming precision-machined components with tight tolerances.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam and other CAM software.
• Develop efficient machining strategies for CNC mills, lathes, and multi-axis equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements.
• Select tooling, fixturing, cutting parameters, and machining sequences.
• Support setup, prove-out, and first-piece inspection activities.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and provide programming support on the shop floor.
• Improve cycle times, tool life, and overall manufacturing efficiency.
• Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and production personnel to solve complex manufacturing challenges.
• Maintain setup sheets, tooling documentation, and program revisions.
• Support continuous improvement, quality, and cost-reduction initiatives.
