Job summary

The Dixon Group in Chestertown, MD is seeking a Manufacturing Technician with a strong mechanical aptitude to operate and optimize CNC equipment in a production setting. You will monitor machine performance, inspect parts, read blueprints, and help maintain quality and efficiency.

Ideal candidates have at least three years of manufacturing experience and proficiency with calipers and micrometers, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three years of manufacturing experience required.
• Experience operating or troubleshooting CNC machinery.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing specifications.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment, including calipers and micrometers.
• Basic shop mathematics skills, including addition, subtraction, fractions, and measurement conversions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and quality expectations.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor CNC machinery used to mill, punch, drill, broach, and ream components.
• Troubleshoot machine performance issues and adjust settings as needed.
• Identify machining defects, investigate root causes, and take corrective action.
• Perform in-process and final inspections to verify specifications and quality.
• Read blueprints and manufacturing documentation to guide setup and production.
• Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensional accuracy.
• Make decisions on quality, tolerances, and production sequencing.
• Set up machines for production runs and adjust tooling as needed.
• Monitor production output and maintain records for quality.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean workspace.
