Job summary

H.T. Prof Executive Search is seeking a Director of Manufacturing Engineering & Technology in Bay Shore, NY.

The role combines hands-on CNC leadership with engineering management to modernize and transform manufacturing capabilities on the shop floor. You will drive tooling and fixture design, CNC programming optimization, and process improvements, while mentoring engineers and coordinating with operations to meet quality and delivery goals.

Qualifications

Significant manufacturing engineering experience in a CNC machining environment with hands-on problem solving.
Experience methodizing new work and developing processes from drawings to production.
Strong CNC programming, machining practices, cutting tools, workholding, and fixture design.
Able to troubleshoot shop-floor issues and implement corrective actions.
Experience interpreting drawings, GD&T, and complex manufacturing requirements.
Proven track record improving manufacturing with digital tools, CNC connectivity, automation, or modernization initiatives.
Experience leading technical teams while staying hands-on.
Excellent communication, project execution, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Responsibilities

Lead methodizing of new work, including routings, operation sequences, setups, tooling, fixtures, and work instructions.
Provide direct technical support for CNC programming, setup optimization, machining issues, and troubleshooting.
Lead tooling and fixture design, development, selection, and implementation.
Collaborate with machinists, programmers, production leaders, and quality personnel to resolve problems.
Improve cycle times, tool life, process capability, throughput, and consistency.
Support new product introduction and transition of new work into stable production.
Ensure processes meet drawings, tolerances, quality, and customer requirements.
Develop and execute a roadmap for modernizing CNC operations and digital manufacturing tools.
Turn improvement initiatives into sustained results through training and adoption.
Lead, coach, and develop the engineering team with hands-on involvement.
Establish priorities balancing daily production support with longer-term projects.
