Job summary

Grede is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and optimize machining processes for new parts, ensuring compliance with drawings and quality standards. The role includes creating process documentation, selecting capital equipment, and collaborating with tool designers to meet cost and production goals.

The ideal candidate has CNC programming and CAD/CAM experience, plus automation expertise and a strong problem-solving mindset.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
Proficiency in CAD/CAM and 2D/3D CAD.
Experience with CNC programming and automation.
Ability to read engineering drawings and maintain process documentation.
Strong problem solving and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

Determine optimal machining processes on new parts considering drawings, customer and quality requirements.
Develop machining process plan to meet internal and customer requirements.
Create manufacturing process documentation for start-up and production.
Identify capital equipment needs and evaluate options.
Research and purchase required equipment and automation.
Collaborate with tool designers and participate in design reviews.
Develop CNC programs and setup sketches; modify as needed.
Oversee machine setup during launch and prove-out.
Monitor production results and conduct time studies and cost analyses.
Implement process improvements to reduce costs and improve quality.
