Job summary

Barber-Nichols is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and improve manufacturing methods across operations, focusing on materials, tooling, and fixture design. You will review documentation, write work instructions, and drive continuous improvement with Project Engineering.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, extensive CNC experience, and strong knowledge of lean methods and ISO/AS quality systems. Travel up to 10% is possible.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing/industrial/mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Ten years of manufacturing engineering experience in CNC machining.
  • Three years of lean manufacturing experience in CNC environments.
  • Three years' experience with ISO/AS/QS/TS quality systems.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and metal finishing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Review process docs to meet customer requirements and verify validation.
  • Develop documentation and work instructions; define critical control points.
  • Coordinate equipment purchases and schedule adherence for projects.
  • Monitor maintenance and verify machines operate per schedule.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure data transfers meet needs.
  • Perform root cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
  • Maintain safety, quality, and continuous improvement across processes.
