Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a CNC Process Engineer to own machining processes for aerospace hardware, from multi-axis milling and turning to finish machining of AM parts. You will drive CAM programming, tooling strategy, and process qualification across complex nickel-based alloys to ensure first-article quality and repeatable production.

The role requires strong GD&T, CAM tooling experience, and the ability to support production with real-time engineering decisions.

Qualifications

  • BS in Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline
  • 8+ years in CNC machining process engineering or similar
  • Experience with nickel-based superalloys and other difficult-to-machine materials
  • Proficiency with CAM software to define strategies and review toolpaths
  • Strong understanding of multi-axis CNC milling and turning
  • Ability to read engineering drawings with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Experience with process qualification (Cp/Cpk, first-article)
  • Strong CAD/Office software skills (CAD, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Responsibilities

  • Develop CNC machining process plans for complex aerospace components, defining sequences, machine assignments, fixturing, tooling, and cutting parameters
  • Define CAM programming strategies and templates, optimize cycle time, surface finish, and tool life
  • Qualify machining processes through first-article builds and Cp/Cpk studies and SPC implementation
  • Develop machining processes for finish machining of additively manufactured components
  • Provide DFMin feedback to design engineering to optimize producibility
  • Evaluate and specify CNC machines and perform FAT and capability studies
