A leading company in precision machining is seeking a CNC Manual Machinist to set up and operate machines for industrial components. The ideal candidate will have experience with CNC and manual equipment, and be skilled in precision machining and inspection. Join a dynamic team to work on heavy machinery parts that serve various industries, including mining and construction.
Join a precision machine shop specializing in the fabrication and repair of large‐scale industrial components—everything from mining crusher parts to hydraulic press assemblies. As a CNC Manual Machinist, you’ll set up and operate both CNC (4-axis horizontal boring mills, lathes, VMCs) and manual machines to produce, refurbish, or reverse-engineer heavy machinery parts with tight tolerances.
Machine Setup & Operation
Configure and run 4-axis horizontal boring mills, CNC lathes, vertical mills, and manual equipment.
Load tooling, establish work offsets, and verify programs or manual setups before production.
Precision Machining & Inspection
Machine large parts to blueprint specifications, maintaining tolerances often within ±0.001″.
Use precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, indicators) to inspect and document part dimensions.
Fabrication & Repair
Perform welding, fitting, and machining to repair or fabricate components for mining, construction, power, and steel industries.
Reverse-engineer obsolete or custom parts by taking accurate field measurements and recreating CAD drawings or manual setups.
Process Improvement & Maintenance
Identify opportunities to optimize tooling, fixturing, and cycle times.
Conduct routine machine maintenance—lubrication, belt/guide adjustments—to ensure equipment reliability.
Collaboration & Documentation
Work with project engineers and clients to clarify requirements and report progress.
Maintain accurate setup sheets, inspection logs, and job travelers for traceability.
Experience:
2–4 years setting up and operating 4-axis CNC horizontal boring mills, CNC lathes, VMCs, and manual machines.
Technical Skills:
Proficient reading blueprints and GD&T symbols.
Skilled with precision measuring tools and basic CAD for reverse engineering.
Physical & Personal Attributes:
Comfortable handling large, heavy parts (lifting up to 50 lbs or more).
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
Work Environment:
Production shop supporting industries such as mining, power generation, steel mills, foundries, and bridge construction.
Salary info:
$22 - $30 / hr
