The CNC Machinist sets up and operates CNC milling machines and machine centers to perform various functions, such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, and boring of metals. The successful candidate must demonstrate knowledge of machine tool capabilities, machinability of materials, blueprint reading, and industrial math.

Responsibilities

1. Reads and interprets prints, travelers, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, set up procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences.
2. Secures and aligns tooling, attachments, and work piece on the machine.
3. Verifies and installs cutting tools in machine. Inspects tooling for proper condition.
4. Downloads NC program.
5. Sets machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece and to regulate factors, such as cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.
6. Communicates with supervisor or programming associates to resolve program or machining problems.
7. Operates machines to the highest level of efficiency.
8. Changes cutting tools as needed and sets up according to required machining sequence or to measure parts for conformance to print specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
9. Inspects and measures parts for conformance to specifications.
10. Performs preventive maintenance as required.
11. Completes documentation to quality records, manufacturing plans, SPC data collection.

Requirements

1. Minimum High School education or equivalent.
2. Vocational Training/Machine Tool Technology or equivalent preferred.
3. Minimum of 5 years CNC machining experience.
4. Must be a U.S. Person.
