Job summary

Rust Belt Recruiting seeks an experienced CNC Machinist (VTL, HBM) for second shift and weekend day shift in Cleveland, Ohio. You will set up, program, and operate large CNC centers to manufacture tight-tolerance fabrications for heavy industry.

Applicants should have 3+ years' hands-on CNC machining in low-volume/high-mix environments, read complex blueprints with GD&T, and be proficient with G-code, Siemens controls, and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Bring 3+ years of hands-on experience in component CNC machining within a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency running large CNC machines such as vertical turret lathes (VTL) or horizontal boring mills (HBM).
• Read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Apply proven experience in CNC G-code programming, Siemens machine controls, and AutoCAD.
• Utilize advanced inspection methods, including hand measuring instruments and CMM equipment, to validate close tolerances.
• Possess practical rigging experience and safe overhead crane operating capabilities for heavy material handling.
• Show a track record of developing the craft and technical skills of fellow machining team members.
• Use standard computer applications effectively for production reporting and internal email communications.

Responsibilities

• Review engineering prints and technical specifications to select and acquire appropriate tooling.
• Set up, adjust, and operate large CNC machining centers, specifically horizontal boring mills (HBM) and vertical turret lathes (VTL).
• Edit, optimize, and maintain CNC programs using G-code to ensure efficient and accurate machining cycles.
• Inspect and measure machined components using precision hand gages and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify GD&T compliance.
• Rig and transfer large, heavy fabrications safely using overhead cranes.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across tooling, setup times, and machining practices.
• Mentor and train less experienced machinists in setup techniques, blueprint interpretation, and machine operation.
