Caterpillar in East Peoria, IL is seeking a skilled Machining Technician to support multiple shifts on first, second, and third shift as part of a busy manufacturing operation.

You will read blueprints, program CNC machines, and supervise safe, high-quality production while mentoring other technicians and supporting onboarding. The role emphasizes Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and cross-functional teamwork.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of machining experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, understand GD&T, and interpret manufacturing specifications.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection methods.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to teach technical information in a clear, patient, and practical manner.
• Ability to work across different areas, departments, and schedules.
• Commitment to safe work practices and quality performance.
• Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic training and production documentation.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
• Set up and operate machining equipment safely and efficiently.
• Verify parts meet dimensional, quality, and workmanship requirements.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues.
• Support production priorities and move between assignments as needed.
• Collaborate with operations leadership, manufacturing engineering, quality and maintenance.
• Provide technical training and guidance to employees.
• Contribute to continuous improvement focusing on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
• Assist with integration and operation of automated machining cells and CNC equipment.
