Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA seeks a CNC Machinist for Materials Labs to operate a wide range of machine shop equipment, including CNC mills, lathes, wire EDM, and waterjet. You will support mechanical test lab work with tensile specimen machining and fixture fabrication, and perform inspections and rework as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma and 1+ years of experience with CNC centers, GD&T, and reading engineering drawings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• 1+ years of professional experience running CNC vertical milling centers, CNC turning centers or wire EDM.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC mill (horizontal/vertical), CNC lathe, wire EDM, manual mill/lathe, waterjet and other machine shop equipment.
• Support mechanical test lab with metallic test specimen machining for tensile and fracture toughness and fixture machining/repair.
• Perform product inspection and rework as required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings with symbols, notes, and general notes.
• Assist in maintenance and repair of production machinery.
