Job summary

OPTI STAFFING is hiring a CNC Working Lead for a Sherwood, Oregon manufacturing shop. This role combines hands-on machining with daily leadership, overseeing CNC mills and lathes, interpreting blueprints, and keeping tight tolerances.

You’ll mentor machinists, coordinate workflow, and ensure on-time delivery while maintaining safety and quality standards. Competitive hourly pay $30–$37 DOE, Monday–Friday 6am–2:30pm, with full benefits through Opti Staffing.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on CNC machining experience, preferably in a lead or senior role.
• Leadership, mentoring, or team coordination experience.
• Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes.
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T proficiency.
• Experience with Fanuc and Haas control panels.
• Modify G- and M-code; troubleshoot machining issues.
• Set up fixturing, tooling, and machine offsets.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
• Ability to prioritize production and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

OPTI STAFFING IS HIRING! Position: CNC - Working Lead Location: Sherwood, Oregon Compensation: $30–$37/hr. DOE Hours: Monday – Friday, 6am–2:30pm

A local manufacturing company that has been engineering, fabricating, and constructing equipment for the farming and logging industries for over 45 years is looking to hire an experienced CNC Working Lead! This company takes pride in sourcing and manufacturing its products in the United States. They are a full‑service manufacturing operation, handling everything from raw materials to CNC machining, welding, fabrication, and final assembly.

What You'll Do:

As a CNC Working Lead, you will play a key role in overseeing daily machining operations while remaining hands‑on with production. This is a working leadership position, so you will be responsible for supporting and guiding the CNC team while also setting up, operating, and troubleshooting machines. You will help coordinate workflow, prioritize jobs, assist with training and mentoring machinists, and ensure production deadlines and quality standards are consistently met. You will be working primarily with CNC mills, interpreting blueprints, making machine adjustments, modifying G and M code as needed, and maintaining tight tolerances.

What You Need to Have:

• Strong hands‑on CNC machining experience, preferably in a lead or senior machinist capacity
• Previous leadership, training, or team coordination experience
• Ability to set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes
• Strong blueprint reading skills and understanding of GD&T
• Experience with Fanuc and Haas control panels
• Ability to modify G and M code and troubleshoot machining issues
• Experience setting up fixturing, tooling, and machine offsets
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, bore micrometers, depth micrometers, and height gauges
• Ability to prioritize production schedules, delegate responsibilities, and maintain workflow
• Strong communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
• Willingness to lead by example and work alongside the team

Highly Preferred:

• Previous experience as a CNC Lead, Working Lead, or Lead Machinist
• Knowledge of hand G‑code programming
• Experience with Mastercam X8, NC‑CAM 7, or similar software
• Experience in a custom manufacturing or fabrication environment
