Overview
An established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced CNC Operator Lead to join its production team. This hands-on leadership role oversees CNC machining operations, guides operators, and supports safe, efficient production. The ideal candidate brings strong CNC operating and programming skills, experience with machine setups, and the ability to help a team meet production schedules and quality standards.
What you'll do
- Supervise and mentor CNC operators while ensuring adherence to safety procedures and production schedules
- Oversee the setup, calibration, and operation of CNC mills, lathes, stamping presses, and other machining equipment
- Program CNC machines using Fanuc controls and CAM software based on CAD drawings and GD&T requirements
- Inspect components using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments
- Verify finished parts meet blueprint requirements and quality specifications
- Coordinate material handling, tooling setups, and fabrication activities to maintain efficient workflow
- Troubleshoot CNC equipment and mechanical issues, partnering with maintenance personnel on repairs
- Maintain machine operation records, production logs, and quality reports
- Identify opportunities to improve machining processes, productivity, and quality
Required qualifications
- Proven experience operating CNC mills, CNC lathes, stamping presses, press brakes, and fabrication equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of Fanuc controls, CAM programming, and CAD software, such as SolidWorks or similar tools
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T requirements
- Experience with precision measuring instruments, tooling setups, and mechanical troubleshooting
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), welding techniques, and fabrication processes
- Ability to use hand tools for assembly and fabrication tasks
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience leading a small manufacturing or machining team
- Factory or warehouse experience involving material handling, packaging, assembly lines, or logistics
