Job summary

Mueller Water Products, Inc. is seeking a Technical Machine Operator I to operate CNC lathes and mills, read blueprints, and ensure quality and safety standards are met on the shop floor.

You will set up equipment, measure with micrometers and calipers, perform routine maintenance, and document production logs to support manufacturing processes. Prior CNC/industrial experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Read blueprints, GD&T, and machining specifications.
• Interpret orders and assembly instructions for precision parts.
• Operate CNC lathes and mills with appropriate fixtures and tools.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain clean, organized work area.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
• Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers, indicating vices.
• Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
• Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces.
• Maintains specifications by observing milling, drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread cutting operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions.
• Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
