Job summary

Classic Gears & Machining is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist in Kaukauna, WI. The role involves programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes to produce high-precision components for OEM customers.

Opportunities exist on 1st and 2nd shifts. A 10% shift premium for 2nd shift is offered, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement within a modern facility.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years CNC machining experience, preferably on lathes.
  • Experience programming and setting up CNC equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints and manufacturing docs.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators).
  • Strong math, mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC lathe equipment to produce precision parts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, travelers, and specs.
  • Select tooling, establish setups, and determine efficient machining processes.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Monitor machine performance and adjust to maintain dimensional accuracy and quality.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and suggest improvements to reduce scrap.
  • Collaborate with machinists and production to support safety, quality, throughput, and CI.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe workspace.
  • Work overtime as needed to meet delivery schedules.

Behm Consulting is assisting Classic Gears & Machining in the search for an experiencedCNC Lathe Machinist to join the team. Opportunities are available on both1st and 2nd Shift.

*2nd Shift Premium = 10% of hourly rate
Position Summary

As a CNC Lathe Machinist, you'll be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment to manufacture precision components that meet customer specifications. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work while supporting a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC lathe equipment to produce precision-machined parts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, job travelers, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Select tooling, establish machine setups, and determine the most efficient machining process.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as necessary to maintain dimensional accuracy and product quality.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce scrap.
  • Work closely with fellow machinists and production personnel to support safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Work overtime as needed to support customer delivery schedules.
Qualifications
  • Three to five years of CNC machining experience, preferably operating and setting up CNC lathes.
  • Experience programming and setting up CNC equipment.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.
  • Strong math, mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
