This is an ideal role for someone who has 5+ years of CNC Machinist experience who has one year of setup experience on manual mills and who aligns strongly with the mission of the Lighthouse. The ideal candidate should possess well rounded machining skills with an emphasis on CNC Lathe with the ability to work through first part run and setup on the CNC Lathe.***Please Note: Our current open positions are for First shift (7:30 am to 4 pm) and Third shift (11pm to 7 am) only at this time.Purpose:Utilize current knowledge, skills and abilities to further improve capabilities on how to set-up and operate all types of computer numerical control (CNC) machines to fabricate complex metallic and nonmetallic parts.Responsibilities:Ability to read requirements from specifications, drawings and customers.Use a variety precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, depth micrometers, pin-gauges, air gauges, height gauges and comparators to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece by using sequence of operations and set-up requirements from drawings, work orders and verbal instructions.Independently selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines.Independently selects and loads appropriate program from network.Sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed and coolant flow.Ability to do first part inspect for jobs for others within their area.Ability to detect and troubleshoot problems on machines and programs.Reads, understands and interprets G and M codes.Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications per SOP set forth in our BMS.Confers with lead or supervisor to resolve machining problems and have the ability to communicate concerns with programming or maintenance.Mentors all employees in the machining profession with the willingness to further their education in technological advances.Ensures the adherence to company safety and health standards, policies and procedures by monitoring personnel, machinery and work environment.Immediately notify supervisor and/or Safety Manager of any safety and health concerns and problems.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements:High School diploma, GED or equivalent.At least 1 year of set-up experience on manual mills preferred.At least 5-7 years CNC Machinist experience preferred.Ability to carry-out instructions and give clear feedback.Ability to understand policies and procedures.General math skills with a basic knowledge of manufacturing.Ability to use Microsoft Word and Outlook.Advanced knowledge of precision measuring instrument.Advanced understanding of work orders and tools.Basic knowledge of quality system concepts and procedures.Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.Ability to stand up to 8 hours with standard rest-periods.Ability to perform work assignments requiring repetitive motions.Ability to work schedule as assigned.Please note: Under the AbilityOne Program, The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. gives hiring preference to individuals who are legally blind.
