Job summary

FLSmidth in Winfield, IL is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set up and operate lathes, mills and drill presses in a general machine shop. Review work orders, read drawings, select tooling, and monitor speeds and feeds.

You bring 4 years in a general machine shop, ability to interpret blueprints, understand metallurgy, tolerances and basic math. Multi-axis CNC is a plus; we offer shift differential and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 4 years’ experience in a general machine shop.
• Able to run CNC lathes, mills, and drill presses.
• Able to read blueprints and interpret tolerances.
• Familiarity with tooling geometry and sharpening.

Responsibilities

• Examine work order and drawing to determine machining and setup requirements.
• Select and install tooling in posts, turrets, and magazines per program.
• Mount workpiece in chuck, fixtures or faceplate.
• Proofread program for dimensions, feeds, and speeds.
• Monitor machine performance and adjust feeds and speeds.
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot as needed.
• Document shift actions to maintain continuity across teams.
• May perform flame cutting or arc welding as required.
• Willing to cross-train on related tasks.
