Job summary

Vermeer Corporation is hiring for an entry-level Machinist I to set up and operate CNC machining centers and turning centers. You will produce high-quality parts supporting Vermeer’s world-class equipment while embracing safety, continuous improvement, and craftsmanship.

You will read blueprints, GD&T, and select tooling to meet exact tolerances. Training is provided to help you grow in a structured environment, with 2nd shift operations on site.

Qualifications

• Entry-level machining experience or formal training preferred.
• Ability to learn Vermeer Machining Training Program is required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T to meet tolerance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machining centers (3-4 axis), turning centers, press brakes, lasers, drills, benders, and plate cutters to manufacture parts to precise specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T; select tooling and load programs.
• Make basic program edits at the control and update tool/work offsets as directed.
• Use micrometers, calipers, and height gauges to verify part quality and maintain tight tolerances.
• Safely load/unload materials, operate cranes, and follow EHS, LOTO and PPE procedures.
• Apply shop math to improve accuracy and cycle time; support continuous improvement initiatives.
