Job summary

Thorlabs in Newton, NJ is seeking a CNC Operator to setup and operate turning centers with sub-spindles and live tooling. You will read blueprints, understand tolerances, and program via G/M codes while inspecting finished parts for conformance.

Hours are 3:45pm - 12:15am, Monday to Friday, with shift differential and a sign-on bonus. Experience with CNC programming and Lean principles is a plus. This role requires safety-conscious, detail-focused teamwork.

Qualifications

Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar position preferred plus training in CNC Programming.
High School Diploma or equivalent or equivalent work experience.
CNC certification or CNC Trade School, a major plus.
Knowledge of Lean Principles including Just in Time, and Setup Time Reduction a plus.

Responsibilities

Performs setups on multi-tasking Turning Centers.
Experience with Okuma and Fanuc controls.
Understanding of Virtual Gibbs and manual programming (G codes/M codes).
Measures, inspects and troubleshoots dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications.
Completes routine and priority tasks defined by management to ensure on time deliveries.
