Job summary

Ducommun Incorporated in Parsons, Kansas, is seeking a CNC Machinist (D Shift) to set up and operate conventional and CNC machines to fabricate precision parts.

You will study blueprints, select tools, monitor machining, and verify conformance to specifications, while coordinating with engineers and production staff to resolve issues and ensure quality. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. The D shift runs Thursday through Sunday, 6pm–6am after training.

Qualifications

• Must have strong mechanical aptitude and safety awareness.
• Proficient with basic computer use and measurement tools.
• Ability to operate forklift and overhead crane.
• Experience reading blueprints and drawings.
• Capable of setting up and running multiple machines.
• Team oriented with continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints and specs to determine operations and setup.
• Measure and mark dimensions on material.
• Set up holding fixtures and tools on mills and lathes.
• Set machine speeds, feeds, and depths; input commands.
• Monitor operation and adjust when out of tolerance.
• Verify finished parts meet specifications.
• Collaborate with engineers and production to resolve issues.
• Gather SPC data and maintain quality within control limits.
