Job summary

Ducommun, Inc. is seeking a CNC Machinist for the D shift in Parsons, KS. The role involves studying blueprints, setting up and operating conventional and CNC machines to fabricate precision parts for aerospace and industrial applications.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, basic computer skills, and experience with measuring tools, calipers, and micrometers. Training period precedes the 6pm-6am Thursday-Sunday shift.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Basic computer knowledge and skills
• Ability to operate a forklift
• Ability to operate an overhead crane and hoist
• Ability to use measuring instruments including calipers, height gauge, scales, and micrometers
• Read and understand internal procedures and policies
• Understand and follow through on verbal and written instructions
• Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Measure and mark dimensions on material or work piece.
• Set up and operate mills and lathes with fixtures and tools.
• Set machine controls for speed, feed, coolant, and depth of cut.
• Observe machine operation and adjust as needed to stay within tolerances.
• Verify finished work against specifications.
• Run initial trial to verify machine settings.
• Consult with engineers and production staff to resolve issues.
