Job summary

AHU Technologies Inc. in Los Alamos, NM is seeking an experienced Class A Machinist to turn and inspect precision components from drawings using CNC and manual machines.

You will set up tooling, verify programs, perform in-process inspections, apply GD&T, and document results, working with a team to meet tight tolerances and quality requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and tooling selection.
  • Proficient with precision measuring and inspection equipment and methods.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining, tooling, and setup issues.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC and/or manual machining equipment to manufacture precision components.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, tolerances, and work instructions.
  • Perform machine setups, including selection and installation of tooling, fixtures, and workholding.
  • Verify programs, tooling, offsets, and setup requirements prior to machining.
  • Perform in-process inspections to ensure parts meet drawing and customer requirements.
  • Use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, and other inspection tools.
  • Maintain close tolerances and consistently produce parts that meet quality requirements.
  • Identify machining or quality issues and communicate concerns to supervision and Quality Assurance.
  • Complete required job travelers, inspection documentation, and other production records accurately.
  • Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
  • Follow company quality procedures, safety requirements, and applicable customer requirements.
  • Assist and provide guidance to less-experienced machinists when needed.

About the job Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and dependable Class A Machinist to join our team! Someone skilled with strong knowledge of machining practices, the ability to work from technical drawings and specifications, and a commitment to producing high-quality, precision work.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform in-process inspections to ensure parts meet drawing and customer requirements
  • Use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, and other inspection tools
  • Maintain close tolerances and consistently produce parts that meet quality requirements

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a Class A, Senior, or highly experienced Machinist in a precision manufacturing environment
  • Strong CNC machining and setup experience
  • Ability to independently set up and operate machining equipment
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and tooling selection
  • Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and dimensional tolerances
  • Proficient with precision measuring and inspection equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining, tooling, and setup issues
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
Preferred Experience:

Experience with CNC lathes and mills, multi-axis machining, CNC programming, CAD/CAM software, and precision machining of complex components is preferred. Experience working within a controlled Quality Management System or manufacturing parts to stringent customer, nuclear, government, or other highly regulated requirements is also beneficial.
