Job summary

Brightpath Associates LLC is seeking an experienced machinist to set up and operate CNC mills and lathes as well as manual equipment. You will interpret engineering drawings, determine machining methods, and independently produce precise components for various industrial applications.

The role requires 5+ years of machining experience, proficiency with calipers and micrometers, and a strong ability to troubleshoot processes while maintaining high quality and safety in a busy shop environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required or equivalent
  • Technical or trade school training in machining, manufacturing, CNC technology, or related field preferred
  • Experience reading engineering drawings, CAD drawings, blueprints, and tolerances

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual lathes, drill presses, shears, and related equipment to manufacture and repair components.
  • Produce custom and precision‑machined parts for millwright, agricultural, concrete mixer, fabrication, and industrial projects.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD drawings, blueprints, dimensions, tolerances, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
  • Machine components to required specifications and tolerances, including ±0.005 inch.
  • Determine appropriate machine setups, tooling, fixtures, speeds, feeds, and machining sequences for assigned work.
  • Set and adjust tooling, work offsets, and machine settings to achieve required dimensions and finishes.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments to inspect work and verify dimensional accuracy.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections and make necessary machine or tooling adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and dimensional issues as they arise.
  • Work with fabrication, millwright, and project teams to manufacture new components and repair or modify existing equipment and parts.
  • Perform routine inspection and basic maintenance of machining equipment and report needed repairs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe machine shop and follow established safety procedures.
  • Manage multiple machining projects and work independently to meet production and project schedules.

This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC and manual machining equipment to manufacture, repair, and modify precision components used in millwright, agricultural, construction, fabrication, and equipment applications.

This is a hands‑on position well suited for an experienced machinist who can work from engineering drawings and specifications, determine appropriate machining processes and setups, and independently produce accurate, high‑quality parts.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of machining experience with CNC and/or manual machining equipment preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes.
  • Ability to independently complete machine setups and produce parts from engineering drawings or specifications.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD/engineering drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments, including calipers and micrometers.
  • Working knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, workholding, speeds, feeds, and material properties.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot machining and equipment‑related problems.
  • Ability to perform shop math and accurately calculate dimensions and measurements.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with fabrication, millwright, and project teams.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or trade school education in machining, manufacturing, CNC technology, or a related field is preferred.
